Very Busy Day

Elena had another very busy day. The group was to meet at 10am and head out for there day of fun. When I dropped her off Jose asked all the kids if they had their sack lunch. OH NO, I forgot this. Lucky we were in Meijer parking lot. In for a lunch-able and back out to the group. I felt horrible for forgetting to make her something. I told her I normal have everything ready but with everything going on I some how over looked this. Off to Conner Prairie they went.

Info about Conner Prairie:
When you explore Indiana’s past at Conner Prairie, history comes alive. Dial back two hundred years, and you would find William Conner living in a log home beside the White River with his Lenape Indian spouse and five children. To make a living, he bought furs from Indians who trapped the rich forests of this state.

But William’s life and Indiana changed rapidly soon after. The Lenape left Indiana. William Conner married anew and in 1823 built a grand house on a hill overlooking a flood plain that came to be known as "Conner’s Prairie." He became a major land owner, a statesman and a wealthy businessman.

In the 1930s, Eli Lilly, then president of the pharmaceutical company, stumbled upon Conner’s house, forgotten and falling down. Lilly believed history to be an essential cornerstone of American democracy, so he bought the Conner Homestead in 1934 and immediately began using it as the centerpiece for historical reenactments to "connect people with history in ways books cannot." Always a champion of education, Lilly opened the site to the public so people could see their heritage brought to life.

That was the start of the first phase of Conner Prairie’s life. Over the decades, present-day Conner Prairie began to take shape.

After they visited the Prairie they headed off to the Children's Museum. Elena seemed to really like to the Museum. Many fun things for them to do while they were there. After that it was a mad dash to eat dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory. Elena enjoyed her Lasagna and salad. Pete and Jose had to meet the families at Will Call for our tickets. As the kids were eating dinner the families settled in to our seats. We had great seats, 3 rows up offthe 3rd base line.

Once the students arrived the fun began. They had so much fun at the game. The boys were able to get their baseballs signed, they all did the wave when it came around. We ended up leaving around 10:30. We left before the others since I parked in a different spot. Jason was unable to come with me so I wanted to make sure it wasn't to late as we walked to the car. We must of left just in time because Rhonda's son took a foul ball to the head OUCH.

We have become good friends with this family.
