Another great day of fun

First day of English class for Elena today. She has class 2-3 times a week. They meet at the West Lafayette Library from 10am-12pm. When I picked her up today I made sure to bring my camera. When Elena meet up with us I asked her to see if her friends would take a picture with her. I never thought she would get 9 of them to come for a picture. All the students were very sweet about it. We had planned on going to the pool today. We have had some crazy weather here in Indiana. Today was cold and chilly. Instead of going to the pool I made a play date with my friend Devin. Devin has two girls around Olivia's again. Elena went with us to her house. I know this was not much fun for Elena, but she did watch a movie while she was there.

After our playdate I took Elena to the Mall. Oh my, Elena likes to shop as much as I do. We had so much fun looking at clothes. Elena really like the story "Hollister." As we made our way thru the mall I noticed they now are selling Hermit Crabs. I asked Elena if she knew what they were. Nope, she was alittle frightened, and unsure what to think about them. We all laughed and watched them crawl around the tank.

Elena got to go on her first trip to the grocery store tonight. I learned that Spain only has one type of melon. Elena was unsure what the name was just kept saying"Melon". We looked at all the precut melon and found Honey Dew, the melon of Spain. She was excited to get some. Elena couldn't believe all the different kinds of drinks we have to choose from. She picked out Rootbeer to try. I have only seen her drink milk and water since she came.

Tonight we had our first meal at home. Devin, Macen, Macey and Mallory joined us. We had grilled chicken, Parmesan noodles and corn on the cob. This was Elena's first time eating corn on the cob.

Elena's thoughts on the corn on the cob: it is different, sweet and it was difficult to eat.

Tomorrow Elena will be leaving with her group to head up to The Dunes. She will be camping for the first time. I can't wait to hear about all they do while they are there. She will be back sometime after lunch on the 4th. We are going to miss her while she is gone. She might have only be here for a few days but she sure has made a place in our hearts.
